Community Activities

Our support for different groups and organisations

Discovering truth and life together is not something that’s restricted to church activities. People from our church partner with a wide variety of organisations to share life experiences and help each other, particularly where we see needs that we can respond to.

Mercy Mission

A UK registered Christian charity that runs an orphanage, school and cares for the poor in Southern India. The founder was part of a local church when he felt God’s call to return to his home country and start this work. We support financially and send occasional groups to visit. Our minister is one of the UK trustees.

Christians Against Poverty (CAP)

Christians Against Poverty is a national organisation offering debt advice and support free of charge to anyone who finds themselves in financial difficulty. As a church we are working towards becoming a CAP Debt Centre for the Solihull South area.

Open Doors

We support the work of Open Doors, which reaches out to Christian communities in countries where they are persecuted for their faith. One of members is an Advocate for Open Doors and actively promotes their work.

Dickens Heath Scouts

We support the Scout group with volunteers on the executive committee and adult helpers. We also run a St George’s Day parade service each year with stories, songs and the opportunity to renew the scouts’ pledge.

Tear Fund

Tear Fund is a UK Christian relief agency which works in over 50 countries. We support various appeals for aid projects.

Dickens Heath Village Hall and Festival

Individuals have been members of the Village Hall management committee for several years as a way of supporting community activity and developing community ties. We have also been key organisers and supporters of the annual Festival on the Green.

Dickens Heath Community Primary School

We have met in the school building ever since it opened back in 2002 and enjoy a good relationship with the school, looking to support it in different ways. Various members of the church have been Dickens Heath Village School governors over the years.

Sifa Fireside

Sifafireside is a Birmingham charity based in Digbeth improving health and inclusion for homeless people. The church has been supporting them by providing clothes, sleeping bags, food and financial gifts.

Marie Curie

Some of our members volunteer as part of the Marie Curie Helper Service, which provides be-friending to support those with a life limiting illness.

Kampala Children’s Centre

A centre in Uganda which provides a home, education and a happy childhood to vulnerable children. Two of our members have a long standing committment to the centre and are helping raise funds to provide a well equipped medical centre for the children and local community.

This is a Christian charity that enables young people to explore the realities of marriage and lasting relationships in our society today. Members of our church participate in school discussion classes and share their experiences

Toilet Twinning

A number of people have twinned their toilet through Tear Fund and by twinning your toilet, you help those in desperate poverty to have access to a proper latrine, clean water and the information they need to be healthy.
